Meet Anne

Anne is the independent illustrator behind Berlianne.

She creates black-and-white postcards that capture the life and culture of Berlin.

She works from home in a spacious, bright studio that she absolutely loves, but! her best illustration ideas come to her in the shower!

She enjoys reading, cycling, drawing, taking time with her family and playing the piano. She is French-Moroccan and moved to Berlin fifteen years ago for her first job after completing a master’s degree in German studies.

“Berlin inspires me deeply for my work — its people, its multicultural spirit, its architecture, and those magical winter sunrises.”

In Anne’s own words:

The story behind the postcards: every year, I ask ten people who live in the city to describe Berlin in a single word or expression. I then bring each of these words to life through my own artistic interpretation — every postcard tells its own story.

All my illustrations are drawn digitally on my iPads. I love combining artistic expression with digital technique.

We asked Anne what her ideal future for Berlianne would be:

In an ideal world, I’d love to publish my own graphic novel one day and work even more closely with the world of illustration and publishing — a dream that’s slowly, but surely, coming true.
— Anne
