Meet Julie

Julie is the Swiss graphic designer behind Edition Julie Joliat.

Edition Julie Joliat is a small, design-driven publishing label creating thoughtfully designed planners, notebooks, and books.

Julie’s focus is on functional, minimalist stationery made with sustainable materials and a playful, conceptual twist.

Julie is Swiss and moved to Berlin after years working between Zurich, Paris and the Netherlands. She spent many years in Zurich, but eventually found love in Berlin, where her family began—a dream she always had.

“ I love reading, going to art openings, and drawing in my notebooks. Another dream that came true is being able to live from my own products and publications."

We asked Julie the origin story of her brand and she said:

I started as a graphic designer and art director working mainly in the cultural, art, and fashion worlds, and slowly began developing my own publications on the side. What began as a personal project—designing the kind of planner I wished existed—naturally grew into my own stationery brand.

Julie works from her studio in Berlin, surrounded by shelves of paper samples, book dummies, and beautiful books—plus the occasional chaos of production. And, of course, copies of the finished products.

She works mainly on the computer but also builds physical mock-ups. Paper samples, color swatches, and her trusty A3 black-and-white laser printer are always nearby.

We asked Julie what her ideal future for Edition Julie Joliat would be:

I’d love to expand the range of books, planners, and notebooks I create. I have many ideas—endlessly many!—but at the moment only limited time to bring new products to life. Always looking for new ways to be the most productive.
